[Apex Legends] The game goes to the windowed mode when pressing a hotkey

Issue description:
When I press any app hotkey, the game goes to the windowed mode (the full screen mode is set in the game settings). It happens after pressing a hotkey N times (sometimes you need to press it about 30-50 times).

Can you reproduce it (exact steps to reproduce):

  1. Launch the game.
  2. Press any app hotkey multiple times.
  3. The game goes to the windowed mode.
  4. Press Alt+Enter to go back to full screen.
  5. Repeat steps 2-3 again.

I was able to reproduce it on Overwolf v0.166.87.21. The game client is Steam (I didn’t test in Origin).

Impact for my app:
High. This issue can happen multiple times during a match.

No.

Update:
The same issue happens in other apps for Apex Legends. Moreover, it’s not required to press a hotkey at all. If the app restores some in-game window automatically, the game can go to the windowed mode anyway.

Adding here that the dev mentioned that it happens in the steam version. Origin version not tested.

@surgeon Hi,

  • on apex steam version OW client v0.165 - can’t reproduce.
  • apex steam OW v0.166 dev channel - can’t reproduce.

Downloading now the origin version. I will test it tomorrow and also test the above on another machine to make it double-check.

Hi,

We found the issue, and we will release a fix on the next iteration.
The ETA for the release is not yet known; I guess it’s around ~2 weeks.
