Native desktop window without taskbar

Feature Description:
For the new HearthArena version GPU acceleration of the UI (at least the big app window) is a must-have. We are currently going to use a native desktop window. Since we do not need transparency in this window this works quite well.

However, when Hearthstone is in fullscreen mode the experience is being harmed by the windows bottom taskbar popping up whenever someone clicks in the big app window. Its looks simiular to when you use ALT-TAB in windows.

In order to get a smoother experience it would be great if we can somehow prevent the windows taskbar from showing up. I don’t know what would be the best method to do this but if this is pulled off you basically get fully GPU rendered windows (without transparency support) while fullscreen gaming.

Apps like Firestone would also benefit from this as they are having similar issues. To see the issue, open Hearthstone in fullscreen with Firestone and use the ALT + C hotkey. Whenever you click inside their ‘big window’ you see the taskbar popup.

Note:
Rendering that big screen as an in-game is not an option since in-game overwolf windows are not hardware accelerated.

Hi, and thanks for the feedback.

We will discuss the matter internally, and we will update you here.

Thanks.

Hey @heartharena,

Currently, we don’t have a solution for this issue.
You can switch the window from native to “regular” OW window (“transparent”:true) to avoid this “losing focus” behavior.

Thanks.
