Pass installation parameters even if Overwolf was already installed

  • Feature Description: Now, if user gets apps .exe file to install and already has Overwolf installed, app is just being downloaded from market. Therefore all the installation utms that were passed into installer are missing, which makes it alost impossible to track user’s source and gather analytics data.

It would be great if utm parameters were preserved and stored somewhere (smth like an object, where keys === application id, and values === installation parameters object), so that we could access them from the app anytime.

Also, would be awesome if those parameters were completely custom (so that we could pass anything we want into .exe and get it when user launches app).

  • What is your current pain point? If the user had Overwolf installed when he downloads application installer from a referral or ad, we cannot track the installation source as all the utms passed into .exe are not saved.

Hi, and thanks for the feedback.

We will discuss the matter internally, and we will update you here.
It might take up to a few days.

We added this feature request to our backlog.
We don’t have an ETA, though, and that can take some time to implement and release. Thank you for your patience.
We will update you here once it is ready.
